“To become a scientist, be confident, work hard, and create your own story that will inspire others in the future!”

The fifth video of the Women [& girls] in Science 2023 series features Sallam Abualhaija, research scientist at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the University of Luxembourg. Her field of research is Artificial Intelligence for software engineering, with specific interests in natural language processing, text mining, machine learning, requirements engineering and legal and regulatory compliance.

I studied computer science, a degree that is expensive and dominated by male students. The path was exciting, full of intellectual challenges mixed with social prejudice about the incapability of female students, which I proved wrong together with Ibtissem, Jumana, and other female fellows.

The video series “Women [& Girls] in Science” is a collaboration between the institutions that form Research Luxembourg and MEGA (Ministère de l’Égalité entre les femmes et les hommes – Luxembourg). The series features 6 women in science with different journeys in science, with the goal to inspire young girls in[to] science.
