G-STEAM Opens European Community of Practice to the Public and Launches Open-Access E-Course for Mentors

G-STEAM : Gender-Sensitive Teacher Training in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics
Following its successful initial rollout, the G-STEAM project is proud to announce that its Community of Practice (CoP) online platform has officially opened its doors to the wider international educational community. Simultaneously, the project has launched its innovative, open-access Training Programme for Mentors (E-Course), marking a major milestone in the transition from conceptual research to active classroom empowerment across Europe.
The CoP online platform has rapidly expanded into a vibrant hub, currently connecting over 270 members who are actively discussing nearly 200 topics across 9 European countries. Designed for teachers of all levels, teacher trainers, researchers, and policymakers, the platform serves as a secure, moderated ecosystem where Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics dynamically meet the Arts. To ensure a high-quality environment, new users undergo a structured review process upon registration before gaining full access to the network’s collaborative tools, discussion forums, and dedicated onboarding sessions.
At the heart of G-STEAM’s recent developments lies the Mentors Training Programme. This certified, blended professional development pathway specifically targets teacher educators engaged in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The core digital component is now freely accessible on the project website and features 16 English-language video lessons (with automatic subtitles available) structured into three main thematic blocks: Introduction and Foundations, Understanding Bias and Its Impact, and From Understanding to Action.

International Mobility and Transnational Cooperation Solidified in Bologna
To reinforce the rollout of these digital resources, G-STEAM partners and mentors gathered in Bologna, Italy, from 29–30 April 2026 for a high-impact international event hosted by the University of Bologna.
The G-STEAM International Mobility Event brought together 27 selected mentors from eight European countries (the Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Finland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Spain, and France). Over two intensive days, this diverse cohort of teacher educators, CPD trainers, and school teachers engaged in advanced training focused on dismantling gender stereotypes, decolonising science, and implementing theatrical and arts-based teaching methodologies. The second day was dedicated to strengthening mentorship capabilities and providing the co-creation guidance necessary to lead the upcoming G-STEAM Toolbox co-creation process.
Parallel to the training, the consortium successfully held its 3rd Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) on 28 April 2026. Partners aligned on cross-work-package progress, finalized the framework for the mentor-driven CoP, and established concrete action plans for upcoming classroom pilots, dissemination strategies, and newly formed international synergies with complementary initiatives such as the ERTA (European Robotics Teachers’ Academy) project and the Women in the History of Quantum Physics (WiHQP) initiative.
